It was QTL's time to shine. The entrance to Illuminate at NeoCon was more than a threshold. It was a statement. QTL partnered with the design team behind this new showcase zone to create an entryway installation that stopped attendees before they ever reached the floor.
The concept was a pair of large sculptural wings, anthropomorphic and brutalist, alive with color and subtle motion. Designers Lisa Simonian and Elise Metzger knew they needed a lighting partner that could deliver flexibility and precision under a tight show timeline. They chose QTL.
RGB color-changing light strips run along the back of each wing, housed in THIN extrusions with diffuse lenses to soften the output. The forward-facing spine carries OPTI-FLAT fixtures with a wider spread. Four QT-CAB-DMX enclosures power the entire installation, each holding up to eight 100W DMX drivers, pre-addressed before the show opened. When the crew arrived on site, it was plug in and go.
That upfront coordination simplified a complex, multi-surface installation. Lighting control partner EQ handled programming offsite, locking in colors and animation before installation day. On-site adjustments took minutes.
The result was an installation with a unique appearance depending on where you stood. Whether straight on, from the side, in the reflection off the high-gloss wall behind the wings, every angle shared a new version of the story.
