VOYA: Landscape Light, Interior Standards

VOYA is a point source accent that happens to go outside. QTL built it from the component level up, and it belongs indoors as much as in the landscape.

VOYA is QTL's specification-grade flood and accent lighting family, rated for wet exterior locations and listed for interior use. Most landscape fixtures are built around an off-the-shelf light engine someone else made: a manufacturer buys a stock LED and driver, wraps them in a housing, and packages it as a unique product. VOYA is not that.

QTL builds the light engine, not just the fixture

VOYA's COB and driver are designed in-house rather than pulled from a catalog. QTL develops the product with a lighting and power mentality that starts at the component level, which means QTL controls the color, the output, and the behavior of the fixture, and holds that behavior consistent across the line. The same custom COB and driver family appears in other QTL products, so specifying QTL across a project gives one color story from an interior cove detail to a tree-mounted accent outside.

Two numbers make the point. VOYA's COBs are binned to under two steps, roughly a step and a half, where many products in the category run three to five. They are also binned to match QTL's other LED light engines, including the linear line, so a field replacement does not introduce a visible color shift. The warm end of the range reaches 2200K, warmer than most off-the-shelf COBs, which tend to bottom out near 2700K.

Color quality: 90 and 95 CRI, with R9 above 90

VOYA offers 90 and 95 CRI options, and the 95 CRI package delivers R9 above 90 for accurate deep reds. Specify 95 CRI where rendering carries the design, such as flowering plants, sculpture gardens, and interior timber and stone. Choose 90 CRI where it does not and gain more output. Even at 90 CRI, the 12W 24V DC fixture delivers over 1,000 lumens at 3000K, and the largest head in the family reaches close to 3,000 lumens. Available color temperatures run 2200K, 2400K, 2700K, 3000K, 3500K, and 4000K.

Dimming and controls: to 0.1% on 24V DC

VOYA dims smoothly to 0.1% on 24V DC and 4% on 12V AC. Output is set with a dip switch that steps through discrete, repeatable levels tracked to perceived brightness, so a level chosen in a mockup is the level delivered on site, every time. Order fixtures preset to the output you want rather than adjusting them one by one in the field, then nudge an individual fixture to an exact dip-switch setting later if a location calls for it.

Control flexibility is built in. On compatible 24V DC supplies, VOYA runs Phase, DALI, or DMX, indoors or out. On 12V AC it works with a standard magnetic low-voltage dimmer. For energy code, dark-sky, or lighting-power-density requirements, a fixture can be ordered locked to a capped wattage at the factory. The cap is fixed, the fixture and its snoot are labeled, and the part number reflects the locked wattage, so an inspector sees exactly what was specified.

Built to live outdoors: 6061 aluminum, 316L stainless, and brass

VOYA's standard body is 6061 aluminum, anodized and powder-coated, which covers the large majority of applications. Polished 316L stainless steel and polished brass are available for harsher settings. On dark finishes, the hardware is black-passivated stainless, so there is no silver set-screw flash to catch the eye.

Water-tightness is designed in, not added on. Two silicone O-ring gaskets provide a second line of protection if a set screw is overtightened, the knuckle is sealed, and a conical wire grommet compresses around the wire to stop water from wicking up it. VOYA is wet-listed for outdoor applications.

Mounting: in-ground, wall, ceiling, tree, and trimless wood-beam

VOYA mounts in-ground, on walls and ceilings, and on trees, with a wood-beam mount that taps in for a clean trimless look on exposed timber. Mounts are ordered separately, so you set finish and stem length for the condition in front of you.

The takeaway

VOYA is a point source accent that happens to go outside. It carries QTL's light quality into the landscape and back indoors again, on one custom light engine, with the color consistency, dimming, and optical control that specification work demands. It is the first of a broader family, and the standard the rest will be measured against.

Frequently asked questions

  • Can VOYA be used indoors? Yes. VOYA is listed to both interior and wet-location exterior standards, so it can be specified as an interior point source, for example mounted to timber or washing a stone wall, as well as outdoors.
  • How low does VOYA dim? VOYA dims to 0.1% on 24V DC and to 4% on 12V AC. Output is set with a dip switch in discrete, repeatable steps, so the level is consistent from fixture to fixture.
  • What controls work with VOYA? On compatible 24V DC power supplies, VOYA runs Phase, DALI, or DMX. On 12V AC, it works with a standard magnetic low-voltage (MLV) dimmer.
  • What color temperatures and CRI does VOYA offer? Static white temperatures run 2200K, 2400K, 2700K, 3000K, 3500K, and 4000K, in 90 or 95 CRI, with R9 above 90 on the 95 CRI option. Warm-dimming is available, as is FWC-compliant amber on most versions.
  • What beam angles are available, and can they be changed in the field? Standard beam angles are 16, 23, 37, and 51 degrees, plus a grazer optic, and they are interchangeable in the field on the same platform. A tighter 12-degree spot is available for long throws.
  • Can VOYA meet energy code or dark-sky requirements? Yes. A fixture can be ordered locked to a capped wattage at the factory. The setting is fixed and labeled, and the part number reflects the locked wattage, so it can be verified on site.
