Lighting Citi Field’s Exclusive Spaces with Purpose and Precision
Citi Field, home of the New York Mets, has long been a landmark of baseball fandom. But in recent seasons, the stadium has expanded its identity, evolving into a venue that blends sport with elevated design and premium guest experiences. Key to this transformation is the lighting - a silent but powerful narrator of space, ambiance, and identity.
When Reveal Design Group was brought in to reimagine the stadium’s most exclusive clubs and suites, lighting was integral from the outset. Each space needed a distinct mood and functional clarity, while contributing to a cohesive visual experience across the stadium. The result is a multi-faceted lighting strategy that supports both architectural intent and hospitality performance.
CADILLAC CLUB
The Cadillac Club, Citi Field’s most intimate venue, is concealed behind the right outfield wall and designed in a “speakeasy” style, with a subtle entrance leading to a rich interior. Light shapes that experience. QTL’s flexible solutions were essential for the space’s curved architecture and mix of natural and fabricated materials. Q-CAP fixtures bend fluidly around the arched bar and ceiling grates dressed in vines, with additional lighting at the base of indoor trees and under cabinetry.
Products such as Q-CAP ZALA, Q-CAP BOXA, and Q-CAP KURV allowed for seamless integration around architectural curves, while MICRO 5 and ESSENTIAL fixtures brought compact linear under-bar and shelf lighting. Static White tape integrated into hanging greenery screens added functionality and depth. “We’ve found that we are able to mix and match Q-CAP and standard QTL extrusions and the color temperature matches almost exactly," said Ashton Allin, Senior Designer at Reveal Design Group. "The fact that we can pair flexible and straight products and get the same look is very important to us.”
EMPIRE CLUB
In the Empire Club, Art Deco inspiration drove the lighting narrative. Integrated linear light - including Q-CAP WALA in stepped bar millwork, VERS-PROUD for vertical architectural cues, and ESSENTIALS LALO and TORQ in shelving and over-bar applications - framed the symmetry and refinement of the space. Q-CAP ZALA brought subtle illumination to custom glass columns, contributing a layered glow at eye level. Rigid and flexible systems worked in tandem to highlight surfaces without overwhelming them. Above the bar, downlight from TORQ fixtures provided practical illumination for staff while creating a sparkling effect on the glassware. "We really wanted the back bar to be a decorative piece in itself," said Allin. "The glass racks were designed to look like a chandelier but still be useful."
QZ power supplies supported integration in floor-mounted conditions, connecting seamlessly with dimming systems. "The center island was a challenge," said Allin. "It floated in the middle of the room, but the lighting still had to be tied into the overall dimming system. Using the plug-in QZLP driver helped us achieve that."
DELTA 360 CLUB
The Delta Sky 360 Club demanded the lighting design team’s adaptability. The lighting plan pivoted late in the process to accommodate material limitations with the preserved moss feature wall – a planned grazer fixture’s placement would have been too harsh for the delicate moss. As a solution, SW24/3.0 LED strip within a silicone SHEILD sleeve was utilized in a concealed slot at the ceiling edge, reflecting light upward where it bounced back down to graze the green wall. "The ability to pivot using QTL products was very helpful in a space like this," said Allin. "We also had to adjust on-site when fixture feeds didn’t align with millwork, and the team helped us make that work seamlessly." Opposite the feature wall is a luxurious bar and banquette area, where Q-CAP fixtures illuminated the coves in columns throughout the space. ESSENTIALS TORQ and LALO provided ambient and task lighting. “TORQ and LALO tend to be my go-tos because they fit in a lot of standard spaces that architects like to use. And depending on how you mount it, they can be used in a lot of different ways,” shared Allin, who utilized a mix of the profiles’ diffused and optical lens options throughout the club.
FISERV SUITES
In the Fiserv Suites, simplicity and warmth guided the lighting strategy. These residential-feeling lounges used Q-CAP ZALA and SW24/3.0 LED strips for under cabinet lighting and to accent wood textures at the bar. ESSENTIALS LALO and TORQ provided crisp task lighting, while ESSENTIALS ARKA illuminated selective architectural details. Although lighting was used more sparingly here, its impact was precise - supporting functionality while building depth and comfort. "This space is thinner in terms of fixture quantity, but we were still able to get in that layering in strategic places," Allin noted. "Even with fewer fixtures, the lighting feels complete."
A Unified Lighting Language
What unifies these four spaces is more than a consistent 2700K color temperature or a shared toolkit. It’s a design language that uses lighting to define spatial identity - expressive when needed, restrained when appropriate. The ability to mix Q-CAP with rigid extrusions, respond to curved surfaces, and adapt to construction realities without sacrificing visual continuity made QTL a critical partner across all phases. "Each space has its own distinct feel, but we used similar products throughout," said Allin. "That flexibility was important to us."
At Citi Field, lighting is more than an overlay. It is embedded in the architecture, aligned with the narrative, and essential to the guest experience. For lighting designers and specifiers, the project illustrates how flexible, high-performance systems can elevate both concept and execution.
